SUMMARY:WABA D-con!
DESCRIPTION:WHERE AND WHEN\nYou are invited to join us in celebrating another great year of our Association’s success\, where there’ll be games galore as well as lots of opportunities to reward our members and supporters. We have enough board-gaming goodness to fill three rooms on Saturday 10 December from 11:00AM to 11:00PM at the Mt Claremont Community Centre\, 107 Montgomery Ave\, Mt Claremont . \n \nCost – Free for Members \nCOST\nEntry is free to WABA members – there will be a list of current members at the door so you can check if your membership is current. \nIf it’s not\, you should hang your head in shame and seek out a Committee member\, who will find you a sign-up form so that you can join… annual membership costs $5 and\, as well as supporting WABA\, means you’re now eligible for free entry to D-Con 2016. \nNon-WABA members pay $5 for entry\, unless it is your first time at a WABA event\, in which case you get to try us out for free. \n\n\n \nDoor Prizes and Raffle \nDOOR PRIZES AND RAFFLE\nEvery attendee is eligible to win a door prize as long as you are present at the time. These will occur at 12:00PM\, 3:00PM\, 5:30PM and 8:30PM\, and are run by a coin flip. \nThe first round is only for non-members and offers an unmissable 50% chance of being out of the running straight off the bat. So\, if you’re a member you have a 100% chance of successfully making it into the second round! Thereafter\, everyone’s in it until there’s only one left standing.\nThe winner gets to select something from THE PRIZE POOL. \nEvery attendee is also entitled to one entry in the raffle prize\, for which you do not need to be present to win but you must leave your name and contact details on the registration sheet (near the door). Four names will be selected randomly from the sheet and contacted according to the information they have left. In order of selection\, each winner will get to choose something from… \nTHE PRIZE POOL\nThe prize pool is a little bit different this year… \nIn an attempt to offer a much wider selection of prizes for attendees\, as well as increase the choices available to those who win later in the day or from the raffle\, we have substantially expanded the prize pool and winners will be able to select from: \nNations\, Wrath of Dragons\, Thunderbirds\, Super Motherload\, Tail Feathers\, Elysium\, Murano\, Extra! Extra!\, Lords of Waterdeep\, Vikings\, Broom Service\, King of New York\, Galaxy Trucker\, Pandemic: The Cure\, Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends or Kaosball: The Fantasy Sport of Total Domination\n\n\n\n\n\nOr grab a bundle: \nBundle One\nCarcassonne: South Seas plus Isle of Trains \n \nBundle Two\nMy First Stone Age plus Adventure Time Love Letter \n \n\n\n\nTOURNAMENTS\, EVENTS AND GROUP GAMES\nThere’ll be games and gaming all day everywhere you look\, but the WABA Committee and some members will be running tournaments\, group games and other special events throughout the day\, including… \n \nReiner Knizia's Decathalon tournament \n \nReiner Knizia’s Decathlon tournament\nTime: 11:30AM – 5:00PM Outside\nRun by: WABA Committee; Sign-up is not required\, you can jump in and play whenever you wish\, but your entry must be completed by 5:00PM. \nA regular favourite and\, if you know how to roll a handful of dice then you know how to play this (but\, if you’re interested\,  click here for the rules). \nThe winner will receive a banging new copy of BANG! The Dice Game \n\n\nThe Game Name Game \nThe Game Name Game competition\nTime: 11:30AM – 5:30PM anywhere you like\nRun by: Jason; Sign-up is not required; you can collect an entry form near the door but it must be completed and returned by 5:30PM. \nThink you know your games? Think you know what’s in your games? Let’s find out… \nGrab an entry form and identify as many games as you can from the pictures provided. \nInformation thread is here. \nThe winner is the person who gets the most correct (draws to be decided by heads & tails) and will receive a brand new out-of-this-world copy of Terraforming Mars \n \n\nCommands & Colours: Ancients EPIC \n\nCommands & Colors: Ancients Expansion Pack #5 – Epic Ancients II group game:\nTime 12:00PM and 2:00PM in room 3\nRun by: Steve; Sign-up is recommended as places limited to eight players in each game. You can register your interest here. \nEpic Ancients is an expansion on the popular Commands & Colours basic game but\, handles up to 8 players at a time. \nThere will be some experienced generals on hand to guide new players through the rules and teach the basics before each game. \n\nSmash Up Tournament \n \nSmash Up tournament\nTime: 12:15PM in Room 2\nRun by: Kent; Sign-up is preferred and recommended as the tournament is limited to twelve players\, first come first served. You can pre-register your interest here. \nSmash Up starts with a simple premise: Take the twenty-card decks of two factions\, shuffle them into a forty-card deck\, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents! Each faction brings a different game mechanism into play – pirates move cards\, zombies bring cards back from the discard pile\, dinosaurs have huge power – and every combination of factions brings a different play experience. \n\nFREOD Games Up Tournament \n \nFreod Games tournament:\nTime: 12:15PM in room 3\nRun by: Stephen; Sign-up is recommended but not required. You can pre-register here. \nThis is a competition introducing Freod Games\, a new kid on the block in board gaming\, based in Fremantle. \nThe tournament will have players participating in all five of their games\, with the point leaders meeting for a final showdown. Each game only takes about 60 seconds to learn. \nThe winner will receive a copy of the games donated by Freod Games \n\n\nNobody But us Chickens Tournament \n\nNobody but Us Chickens tournament\nTime: 2:00PM in Room 2\nRun by: Warren; Sign-up is recommended as the tournament is limited to eighteen players\, first come first served. You can pre-register here. \nThis is a fast-paced\, simultaneous action selection card game where players earn points by capturing chickens with their predators (foxes and rats) or protecting chickens with their guard dog. The game is easy to learn\, but exciting and unpredictable. \nThe winner will receive a copy of the game: Fox & Chicken \n \n\nForce of Will Tournament \n \nForce of Will tournament\nTime: teaching from 3:15PM\, tournament at 4:00PM in room 3\nRun by: Mark; Sign-up is required for the tournament\, but you can also register your interest in a learning game; refer to the event posting here. \nForce of Will is a trading card game that should appeal to those who enjoy Magic: The Gathering\, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraftand other card games\, but players of all skill levels can learn the game quite quickly. Select a Ruler\, which represents you in the game\, and build a deck of cards around this ruler\, using it to attack your opponent and either lower their life to zero or exhaust their draw deck. \n\nFormula D Tournament \n\nFormula D tournament:\nTime: 3:15PM in room 2\nRun by: Warren; pre-registration is not required but is strongly recommended as there will be a limit on participants. You can sign-up here. \nA high stakes Formula One racing game where the players race cars hoping to cross the finish line first… and intact! Using streamlined rules and where your decisions in one race can effect your performance in the next\, you will get to explore the tracks of three different cities in your quest for 1st place.\nThe winner will receive a racy new copy of Camel Up \n\n\nWits & Wagers Tournament \n\nWits & Wagers tournament:\nTime: 6:45PM in room 3\nRun by: Tim and Richard; You do not need to know how to play the game\, but sign-up is required with the competition limited to five teams of three or four players (one of which is reserved for walk-ins on the day). You can register with a pre-made team (3 or 4 people) or as an individual here.\n\nWits & Wagers is a trivia game where you don’t need to know the answers in order to win – you can bet on anyone’s answer\, so you can win by making educated guesses\, by playing the odds\, or by knowing the interests of your friends.\n\nIf you want to run your own event or scheduled game and require sign-up (or expressions of interest) you should create a thread in the WABA General Forums. If you would like your event listed in the schedule and on the annoucements list then please also send a geekmail to be sure it is not missed. \nThe WABA Committee may consider providing prizes for scheduled events that are open to participation by all attendees and serve to support the spirit of the day. \n[/toggle] \n\n  \nGames for Sale\n\nFor Sale or Trade \nFOR SALE OR TRADE\nFor Sale Tables\nFrom 11:30AM until 7:00PM there will be a designated area available for attendees to offer and make offers on games for sale or trade. You may offer anything related to table-top gaming that you wish\, except family members (regardless of how much they like gaming\, or don’t). \nThe Committee will make pre-formatted tags available that will show an asking price\, whether or not you will accept “ONO” offers and/or trade offers\, and space for people to write their offers onto the form. (Note: You are not obligated to use these\, they are simply provided as a convenience for anyone wishing to use the For Sale/Trade table.) \nAlso\, if you make an offer and you intend to leave before the table is closed\, you should check with the owner to see if your offer will be accepted early\, or leave contact details if you are happy for it to be accepted later. \n\nFlea Market \nFLEA MARKET\n \nThe Committee is trialling a Flea Market as a new idea for our members and other guests at D-Con this year.\nThe Market will run from 5:30 – 6:30 in room 2 (sellers can set up from 5:15) with the following rules: \n• You must be a WABA member to sell items;\n• All items (including bundled items) must be priced at $20 or less;\n• Members may sell anything they want to\, game-related or not;\n• Sellers must be present at the market to sell their items. \nWABA will also be selling off some items in the market\, and will gratefully accept game-related donations to be sold in the market. \nWe will be evaluating how successful and popular this is and thereafter consider running it as a regular event every year. \n\n\n  \nDinner\n \nDinner \n\nYou may pre-purchase dinner provided by the previous owners of café. For $10\, the options are: \n\nGreen curry chicken with rice\nMongolian beef with rice\n\nplus a can of drink (Sprite\, Fanta\, Coke Zero). \nYou must register your order with Amy by 5:00PM. Amy will be available to collect dinner orders just after the 12:00PM and 3:00PM prize draws\, and again just prior to the 5:00PM cut-off. She will be wearing a red vest\, and will be distinguishable from committee members Andrew\, Ian\, Shay\, Tim and Warren (who will also be wearing red vests) in that her name is Amy and nobody else’s is. \nDrinks will also be available for purchase from WABA throughout the day.
