Thornlie Venue Change

WABA has held WABA: Thornlie meets on the 4th Saturday of the month for over 13 years. We really appreciate and value being able to use the current location, the Forest Lakes / Thornlie Family Centre. We thank them and the Centre manager for a great working relationship.

Unfortunately, for reasons out of our (and the Centre’s) control, we will no longer be able to use the venue. The March WABA: Thornlie meet will be the last WABA: Thornlie meet and will close at 8.00pm to allow time for final packing up and clearing out.

The WABA Committee have been aware of this possibility and have actively been looking for another venue. We’ve been very fortunate that the Centre has met our needs and we know we won’t be able to get another venue that is exactly the same.

Factors for a new venue include:

-continuing to be (roughly) south of the river and meeting on the 4th Saturday of the month;

-having enough and suitable space, chairs, and tables for boardgaming (estimated at least 14 tables and 45 chairs);

-having sufficient parking;

-with eating options for dinner within a reasonable distance;

-being affordable for WABA to hire; and

-if possible and preferably, with sufficient storage for games and other administrative things.

With a varied membership and attendees, we’re open to using your knowledge and contacts in case there is a suitable venue we haven’t come across yet.

Rather than having over 100 web links sent for us to click and look at, we would please appreciate only being informed of venues once people have done at least a preliminary look/done some preliminary research. There is limited benefit if, for example, a hall is big enough but there is only parking for 10 cars, or a venue can only be hired for $500.
