Preparing for WABACon 2017
Only nine more sleeps until the best boardgaming weekend in West Australian history. Here are a few things to help you prepare for the event.
Before the event
Ticket sales – close midnight Monday, April 3rd only 10 remain (as of 30/03/2017)
Lunches and dietary requirements – Each ticket includes a sandwich for lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. If you have any special dietary requirements or allergies please let us know by Tuesday, April 4th.
For breakfast, dinner and everything in between, attendees receive a 10% discount voucher for use at Ivy & Jacks, the hotel restaurant.
Badge & ticket names – Each ticket comes with an event badge bearing your name (and BGG username if you included it). If you would like to change the name on your ticket (you gave it to someone else) and/or badge (you prefer to go by a different name) you’ll need to contact us by midnight Tuesday, April 4th.
Tournaments – Spots are filling up fast and some events are already full. If you want to participate now is the time to sign up.
On the day
- The event runs from 10am Saturday – 2am Sunday and then re-opens from 7am – 5pm Sunday
- Don’t forget to bring your ticket either printed or viewable on your phone or photo ID
- Don’t forget your raffle ticket money as in addition to the usual heads & tails door prizes, there is a huge prize pool on offer in our raffle. Tickets are $5 for 5 or $10 for 11 with 1000 tickets for sale on Saturday and 500 reserved for Sunday. The draw will be completed on Sunday and you do not need to be present to win (so long as you recorded your badge number on your ticket). As a reminder here is the pool on offer:
Getting there – The Holiday Inn is a few minutes walk from the Perth Underground train station. Just remember to check the Transperth timetables for your last train home:
Parking – The hotel has a $20.00 daily rate self-parking arrangement with the Central Carpark across the road. To access this, you will need to collect and pay for tickets from the front desk team – this can be done by pulling up at the 5 minute bay in front of the hotel and obtaining your ticket from the front desk.
Note: This is an arrangement entirely at the discretion of the hotel and nothing to do with WABA.
Most importantly, we look forward to seeing you all there and wish you happy gaming!
