WHERE AND WHEN
You are invited to join us in celebrating another great year of our Association’s success, where there’ll be games galore as well as lots of opportunities to reward our members and supporters. We have enough board-gaming goodness to fill three rooms on Saturday 10 December from 11:00AM to 11:00PM at the Mt Claremont Community Centre, 107 Montgomery Ave, Mt Claremont .
COST
Entry is free to WABA members – there will be a list of current members at the door so you can check if your membership is current.
If it’s not, you should hang your head in shame and seek out a Committee member, who will find you a sign-up form so that you can join… annual membership costs $5 and, as well as supporting WABA, means you’re now eligible for free entry to D-Con 2016.
Non-WABA members pay $5 for entry, unless it is your first time at a WABA event, in which case you get to try us out for free.
DOOR PRIZES AND RAFFLE
Every attendee is eligible to win a door prize as long as you are present at the time. These will occur at 12:00PM, 3:00PM, 5:30PM and 8:30PM, and are run by a coin flip.
The first round is only for non-members and offers an unmissable 50% chance of being out of the running straight off the bat. So, if you’re a member you have a 100% chance of successfully making it into the second round! Thereafter, everyone’s in it until there’s only one left standing.
The winner gets to select something from THE PRIZE POOL.
Every attendee is also entitled to one entry in the raffle prize, for which you do not need to be present to win but you must leave your name and contact details on the registration sheet (near the door). Four names will be selected randomly from the sheet and contacted according to the information they have left. In order of selection, each winner will get to choose something from…
THE PRIZE POOL
The prize pool is a little bit different this year…
In an attempt to offer a much wider selection of prizes for attendees, as well as increase the choices available to those who win later in the day or from the raffle, we have substantially expanded the prize pool and winners will be able to select from:
Or grab a bundle:

Carcassonne: South Seas plus Isle of Trains

There will be some experienced generals on hand to guide new players through the rules and teach the basics before each game.
Smash Up tournament
Time: 12:15PM in Room 2
Run by: Kent; Sign-up is preferred and recommended as the tournament is limited to twelve players, first come first served. You can pre-register your interest here.
Smash Up starts with a simple premise: Take the twenty-card decks of two factions, shuffle them into a forty-card deck, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents! Each faction brings a different game mechanism into play – pirates move cards, zombies bring cards back from the discard pile, dinosaurs have huge power – and every combination of factions brings a different play experience.
Freod Games tournament:
Time: 12:15PM in room 3
Run by: Stephen; Sign-up is recommended but not required. You can pre-register here.
This is a competition introducing Freod Games, a new kid on the block in board gaming, based in Fremantle.
The tournament will have players participating in all five of their games, with the point leaders meeting for a final showdown. Each game only takes about 60 seconds to learn.
The winner will receive a copy of the games donated by Freod Games
Nobody but Us Chickens tournament
Time: 2:00PM in Room 2
Run by: Warren; Sign-up is recommended as the tournament is limited to eighteen players, first come first served. You can pre-register here.
This is a fast-paced, simultaneous action selection card game where players earn points by capturing chickens with their predators (foxes and rats) or protecting chickens with their guard dog. The game is easy to learn, but exciting and unpredictable.
The winner will receive a copy of the game: Fox & Chicken
Force of Will tournament
Time: teaching from 3:15PM, tournament at 4:00PM in room 3
Run by: Mark; Sign-up is required for the tournament, but you can also register your interest in a learning game; refer to the event posting here.
Force of Will is a trading card game that should appeal to those who enjoy Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraftand other card games, but players of all skill levels can learn the game quite quickly. Select a Ruler, which represents you in the game, and build a deck of cards around this ruler, using it to attack your opponent and either lower their life to zero or exhaust their draw deck.
Formula D tournament:
Time: 3:15PM in room 2
Run by: Warren; pre-registration is not required but is strongly recommended as there will be a limit on participants. You can sign-up here.
A high stakes Formula One racing game where the players race cars hoping to cross the finish line first… and intact! Using streamlined rules and where your decisions in one race can effect your performance in the next, you will get to explore the tracks of three different cities in your quest for 1st place.
The winner will receive a racy new copy of Camel Up
Wits & Wagers tournament:
Run by: Tim and Richard; You do not need to know how to play the game, but sign-up is required with the competition limited to five teams of three or four players (one of which is reserved for walk-ins on the day). You can register with a pre-made team (3 or 4 people) or as an individual here.
If you want to run your own event or scheduled game and require sign-up (or expressions of interest) you should create a thread in the WABA General Forums. If you would like your event listed in the schedule and on the annoucements list then please also send a geekmail to be sure it is not missed.
The WABA Committee may consider providing prizes for scheduled events that are open to participation by all attendees and serve to support the spirit of the day.

Games for Sale
FOR SALE OR TRADE
For Sale Tables
From 11:30AM until 7:00PM there will be a designated area available for attendees to offer and make offers on games for sale or trade. You may offer anything related to table-top gaming that you wish, except family members (regardless of how much they like gaming, or don’t).
The Committee will make pre-formatted tags available that will show an asking price, whether or not you will accept “ONO” offers and/or trade offers, and space for people to write their offers onto the form. (Note: You are not obligated to use these, they are simply provided as a convenience for anyone wishing to use the For Sale/Trade table.)
Also, if you make an offer and you intend to leave before the table is closed, you should check with the owner to see if your offer will be accepted early, or leave contact details if you are happy for it to be accepted later.
FLEA MARKET
The Committee is trialling a Flea Market as a new idea for our members and other guests at D-Con this year.
The Market will run from 5:30 – 6:30 in room 2 (sellers can set up from 5:15) with the following rules:
• You must be a WABA member to sell items;
• All items (including bundled items) must be priced at $20 or less;
• Members may sell anything they want to, game-related or not;
• Sellers must be present at the market to sell their items.
WABA will also be selling off some items in the market, and will gratefully accept game-related donations to be sold in the market.
We will be evaluating how successful and popular this is and thereafter consider running it as a regular event every year.
Dinner
You may pre-purchase dinner provided by the previous owners of café. For $10, the options are:
- Green curry chicken with rice
- Mongolian beef with rice
plus a can of drink (Sprite, Fanta, Coke Zero).
You must register your order with Amy by 5:00PM. Amy will be available to collect dinner orders just after the 12:00PM and 3:00PM prize draws, and again just prior to the 5:00PM cut-off. She will be wearing a red vest, and will be distinguishable from committee members Andrew, Ian, Shay, Tim and Warren (who will also be wearing red vests) in that her name is Amy and nobody else’s is.
Drinks will also be available for purchase from WABA throughout the day.
